Thanks to Claudias critique I looked back on the original RAW file and have reduced contrast. Due to the use of the polarizer filter the original was significantly underexposed. I brightend the dark areas soflty and did not sharpen after resizing like in my original post.

It is a small world. This shot was taken from the very same spot in the same year but in the wet season starting in November with a 35mm Minox GT camera.
