Longroute was asking me if the heron tree was near the river. So, I am showing this photo of Serge, where you can see the office building behind the crane, and just behind, you can just see a paleblue roof which belongs to the warehouses where the elephant lives.

This the prototype of the Elephant built in 2005, for the anniversary of Jules Verne's death. "Royal de Luxe" travel all over with their machines; I think this one was dismantled and parts of it were used to build the new one.
The difference is that it was activated by several men, whereas the new one is activated by one man only, in his kind of tractor-cabin.

The building is still used as offices by different organisations., like the "Centre Interculturel de Documentation", in favour of the mixing of different cultures present in Nantes, due a fair amont of immigrants in the city.

The church dome in the background is often seen on the photos of The Island. It belongs to "Notre Dame de Bon Port".

This is inside the old warehouse which has been refurbished into his house where passengers get in and out of the big toy!
In the group theme, you'll see a photo taken by Loupiot, where people board the giant outside, via a gangway. In fact, one boarding and disembarking out of two are done outside.
On Loupiot's photo, you can also notice the yellow crane which I show on my previous post. You can then see that they are all close together, part of the refurbishing of the "Ile de Nantes"

However, there were complaints of people having to leave the site in a hurry to get changed (children and all!) or cameras being ruined etc...
So the beast complied and now, it only throws little sprays at ground level, as you can see on the photo which was taken from the platform on top of the elephant.
