I have just made a little rotation in order to untilt the picture, and the small cropped zones were dark, so now there is more light without more changes.

If it's difficult to work on the head of the boy without ruining the atmosphere, then try to work on everything else BUT the head. ;-)

Photoshop CS2.

- Shadows 10%
- Highlights 50%
- Unsharp mask 5% - radius 40pix
- Small contrast enhancement.
Nothing fancy, but it brings out the colours a bit better. Next to that, the over-exposure is less because the head is more balanced in itself and towards the surroundings. The contrast between the boy and his surroundings is what makes this picture and that's still there.

I have sinned: I cloned out the legs!!

Then desaturated, adjusted levels, curves, contrast, dodged and burned a bit here and there, and added a frame. Then used Luko's algorithm for sharpening.

on a layer changed mode to soft light, opacity 75%, flaten.

from adjustment menu went to saturation, changed to magenta and desaturated.

1/2 stop down with curves
color adjustment with color/saturation fiddling, selectively on green color channel.
