First of all, Kik, I cropped the left side and top of the sky to get a better composition. Then I selected the tulip fields and under edit>skew I pulled down on the bottom of the selection to make the flower field deeper. I had to make the canvas bigger because the image was too small to post. Then I filled the top and bottom with a blue from the flowers to complement the colour scheme. I hope you don't mind that I played with your image. Just wanted to show you how to improve the composition when you have a wonderful subject like this. Unfortunately, because of the small size of the image, the workshop is less sharp than your original.

I am not a great fan of B&W like I used to be, but I find this view and its high contrast very appropriate for a B&W.

I know very little conversion to B&W. For what I have read, it seems that a really good conversion to B&W is something much more complicated than just do a couple of mouse clicks. Like I do all the times, I preview the 4 straight methods available in Gimp and compared them to the Red, Green and Blue layers. I ended choosing the Green layer and didn't do anything else.

adjusted the contrast of highlights tried to give detail to them increased bit midtone contrast to give depth of field.

Je pense qu'avec un cadrage plus épuré, sans la partie sombre située en bas, on améliore la qualité de l'image tout en renforçant la perception du détail de la cheminée.

i post this original version to illustrate that is possibel to get such vivid colors only with the use of good exposure and with the right light. No PP work but the wonderful reality that Mother Nature offer us.
