 Crop, Frame | cgrindahl
(6103) [2005-08-19 02:24:58] [1] | | This is hardly dramatic. I simply cropped out the left forty percent of the image and added a narrow black frame. See what you think of the altered composition Jordi. |

Crop, Re-size, Noise, Blur, Frame | cgrindahl
(6103) [2005-06-22 03:27:09] | I cropped on all four sides to bring the woman closer and to eliminate some of the details that pull the eye down. In doing so I've changed the orientation of the image, for better or worse, depending on your perspective.
I love the dutone treatment you've created yet I wanted a bit less sharpness and a bit of noise, to give a little older feel to the image. I've told many folks that I would never add noise to an image after spending so much for camera and lens to create sharpness, but let's face it... some images, especially black and white, call for grain.
For blur I created a duplicate layer which I treated with a very light application of Gaussian Blur. Then I reduced opacity of that layer until I had the look I sought. I merged the layers and added a frame. I like black frames, but I thought I'd experiment with white, again to suggest an old fashioned photograph.
If there is anything useful in this exercise, that's wonderful. Looking at the two thumbnails I'm inclined to believe yours is better. Its all for fun anyway, so what the heck. See what you think Jordi and have a wonderful day. |

Desaturate, Sepia, Shadows, Noise, USM | cgrindahl
(6103) [2004-12-24 03:51:46] | | I'm playing here with the intention of bringing this image closer to the manner of your La Paz photos by stripping color and adding a sepia filter. I applied Shadows and Highlights and then added a little bit of Noise using the Noise filter. Finally, I made a pass with USM. I'm not certain how successful this experiment is but I present it for your consideration. I'm glad you brought his image to the board Jordi. |
