 levels, dodge, burn | iGirl
(1215) [2007-03-31 13:59:27] [2] [+] | | First I used levels to increase contrast. Then I used the dodge tool to bring out highlight details in the building, the water, and the clouds. Finally I used the burn tool to slightly darken the shadow areas of the building. To finish I added a frame. I hope you like it! |

 Dodge Tool | iGirl
(1215) [2007-03-31 13:42:14] [1] | | I lightened the shadow area a bit with the dodge tool, especially trying to bring out the gleam in her eyes. I hope you like it! |

 dodge and burn | iGirl
(1215) [2007-03-22 08:49:04] [4] | I used the burn tool to darken the trees in the foreground. This gives more emphasis to the castle. I also darkened the part of the castle in front of the dark clouds, because it looked unnaturally bright there.
Then I used the dodge tool to brighten the right side of the castle's main tower. I also brightened the sky in the brightest area of the clouds, and behind the very top of the tower.
I hope you like it! |

 Clone Tool | iGirl
(1215) [2007-03-12 14:52:56] [2] | | I used the clone tool to duplicate the dark color of the bushes, and cover the light part in the background. This was to eliminate the distraction of the background, but it ended up also giving the photo a much darker mood. I hope you like it! |

nik color efex pro | iGirl
(1215) [2006-12-17 17:41:24] [3] | | I liked your idea of making the girl look different from the Santas, but the desaturation wasn't quite doing it for me. So I tried selectively applying the "midnight blue" filter from Nik Color Efex Pro, to make it look like maybe the girl is in the dark lit only by moonlight, and the Santas are lit by bright artificial lights. I don't know if you will like the result, but maybe it gives you an idea anyway. |

 crop, color adjustment | iGirl
(1215) [2006-11-07 05:41:46] [3] | | I realize that this cropping causes us to lose the interesting background, but I thought you might enjoy this version as more of a portrait-style shot of these little cuties. I cropped, adjusted the colors, and added a frame. Hope you like it! |

 levels, saturation, neatimage | iGirl
(1215) [2006-11-06 14:39:09] [1] | | This took me less than a minute to fix. :) In "levels" I darkened the midtones a bit, then darkened the dark tones just a tiny bit as well. In "hue/saturation" I increased the saturation by +10. Then I ran NeatImage on its default settings, ran my action that adds a frame, and resaved. It took longer for me to write about it than it took to do it. Hope you like this. |

 noise, sharpen, blur | iGirl
(1215) [2006-10-21 05:40:48] [2] | First I ran NeatImage to get rid of the noise, then ran auto levels, a few unsharp masks on the boy, and a gaussian blur on the background. Hope you like it!

 blur, color correction | iGirl
(1215) [2006-10-07 06:52:24] [2] | | I blurred the areas that were pixelated, and I corrected the color balance and brightness/contrast. Hope you like it! |
