- My name is Hubert Weldon, though most of my friends call me Grav. I recently earned my BFA at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Visual Effects and am now persuing my MFA at Electronic Visualization Lab at the University of Illinios Chicago. My primary media is graphics programming for the creation of procedural 3d elements, specialized shaders, and tools for artists. I first started doing photography to assist my shader work. On the recommendation of one of my professors, I took a photography class to help improve my eye for shots. This started my addiction. I shoot ALOT. I usually have at the very minimum my faithful digital camera and two or more film cameras with me at all times. I am a big fan of vintage cameras. I especially like medium format folders. I love both the design asthetic and the Zen of the way the old folders shoot. I come from a long line of Hillbilly Artists. My entire family on my fathers side have been painters for at least 6 generations. It skipped when it hit my dad (he does real estate) and I gravitated (no pun intended) to more technical media. I think of my photography as a type as painting with light while my programming creativity seems alot closer to musical composition. The two creative forms are necessary to keep my inner artistic balance. I love to travel and do so whenever my busy schedule allows.
