- Hello all,
i had to review my profile after a long time, so here is how i feel about this site:
-you get to see awesome places
-you get inspiration what to see on travels, where to travel
-some of the notes to the pictures are really interesting (not the Wikipedia ones, copy paste i don't consider writing a note)
-you will get new ideas about photography
-no real critiques given
-mostly no real critiques wanted
-the site runs very much on a "if you scratch my back i'll scratch yours..." Basis (i have been doing this myself no for quite a while)
-very careless posting of pictures including persons (very often poor people), i am sure there is rarely something like a model release or even an orally given OK by the people imaged...
Now that was 4:4, fair balance. I myself wrote here, that i like to be critizized about shortcomings in my photography, but at the same time, i stopped critizism myself when i discovered that people will just ignore you then and will not take lightly.
Not sure if i will continue this further, it doesn't make any sense in my view. With no critizism, there is no improvement!
I still will reply to comments on my images, because i think it is a fine gesture, that somebody took the time to watch and comment my images and i want to return that favour!
BTW, IN SOME OF MY OLDER IMAGES, YOU WILL FIND ANOTHER NAME OF MINE. YES, THAT IS MY REAL NAME! AFTER I WAS ASKED ABOUT MY POLITICAL VIEWS IN A JOB INTERVIEW BECAUSE THE HR GUY HAD FOUND SOME OF MY PICTURES ON THIS SITE VIA GOOLE, I DECIDED TO USE AN ALIAS! YOU MAY FORGIVE ME FOR THAT.
I don't see points and i don't see names. I choose the pictures i comment (except for replies to comments) just on the fact that i like them.
