I just wanted to experiment making the skin a bit more smooth so I applied the NeatImage filter (about 35% noise removal and 80% sharpening). Here the result.
I found the shot a little too flat and decided to try and work the curves in the GIMP.
This is my attempt at providing a little more contrast (especially between the ground and sky) while trying to retain as much detail in both the shadow and hilights.
I also applied a liberal 0.8/0.3 unsharp mask to bring out a little detail.

this is the color version before conversion to BW. I like this also because it shows the amazing colors of the sunset and its reflection on the water. But I found the BW a bit more artistic and appealing to me.
