first i rotated to straighten door, windows and fence,
then i cropped part of the photo because i find this a more interesting composition, and we still see he was shaving in the street... auto levels, auto contrast... which changed the colors but i had no time to do it manually and achieve a subtler result.

Rotei a foto (janelas porta e grade pareciam tortas) Cortei parte da fotografia para ter uma composicao mais interesante, e utilicei auto levels e auto contrast. nao gostei muito do efeito automatico, mas nao vale a pena demorar muito ajustando manualmente uma fotografia que nao tem muita resolucao, e sendo para Trekearth temos que manter o limite de 200k...

i wanted to get a more powerful graphic image, playing with the nice green background and those two red notes (umbrella and red light), so i first straightened rotating 0.8 degrees to the right, then cropped the area where the bus was, i wanted to put her in the corner of the photo + that half bus leaving the photo was disturbing me... :) i hope you don't mind!
auto levels, auto contrast, then selected the girls clothes and increased brightness (they were a bit too dark)
just another version....

it was difficult to work with this photo because the resolution was real tiny!!! (less than half the file size allowed by TE)

i cropped part of the sky and a bit on the left side, then tried to reduce noise using various Photoshop elements tools: despeckle, noise reduction, dust and scratch reduction... all with setting 1 pixel.
Due to low resolution very soon the photo would look like a watercolor painting, so when i did this i applied to everything except the face, to preserve it from losing her features...
Normally, if it had been one of my photos I would select the sky and would reduce brightness a little bit to make it less whitish, but when i thought of this i had already saved it for the web, and it's a minor detail...
I changed the frame to white and made it a bit thiner.

added contrast, run autolevels,
then selected only her face and applied unsharp mask,
and i cropped a little from the right,
i don't see much difference, but most workshops i do just to learn how to use Photoshop and see how its features work in different cases,

i wanted to change the slope of the street to straighten a bit, but i couldn´t really make it straight because there was the door and the window that would appear tilted, so i deleted them (please forgive me for not using the cloning tool with care, but it was not worth it to spend hours on a low resolution version..., just want to show the idea...)
so trying to straighten the "equality, igualdad" sign, i realized the street would have a slope anayway...
then used unsharp mask only on the lady.

i used auto contrast,
cropped the photo to focus on the kids and their beautiful smiles,
and used unsharp mask only on their faces

i rotated to straighten the buildings in the background,
then applied auto levels and auto contrast,
cropped due to rotation and to leave the burnt sky out of the shot
then unsharp mask
then selected clothes lines and too bright areas and reduced brightness only there.
i don´t like the pixelation around the metal in the foreground, but there is no need to spend lots of time on a photo that´s not going to be printed (low resolution)
and it was just to give you an idea of what could be done here...

but i guess it was auto contrast/levels and unsharp mask?
