I think getting closer to him would have made the shot nicer. Because he noticed your camera, noticed your attempt to take a photo of him, so you had a chance to go closer to him.

Anyway, your image is super sharp in 1/13 sec shutter speed, well done!

I don't know why, but your photo is rather dark, and you haven't used the clouds into full effect... A little bit photoshop editing makes your photo into this. Unfortunately the original file you uploaded is rather small, and I had to remove "noise", so the sharpness is a little bit lost... I hope you like it... Indeed, I sharpened quite much the whole picture (expect the sky) and then I worked with the colours (more blue for the sky) and with the light.
