 1700 meters or 1700 Kms away? | stego
(14396) [2008-04-06 15:13:18] [1] | Who would tell that North Yorkshire could resemble Alentejo? :-)
This was shot in Western Portugal, very close to the place where river Tejo/Tagus enters Portugal, half way between Portalegre and Castelo Branco.
I regret that there aren't any trees on the horizon, because if there were, they would also reminisce the ones seen on the main post (take a look of this post).

 Emerging from the Mist (28) cobbydale
(1738) |
 Colour | cobbydale
(1738) [2008-02-24 02:05:23] | | this is the same shot in colour, which I like in it's own right, but I thought the B&W conversion conveyed the misty atmosphere best. |

 focal length | cobbydale
(1738) [2007-04-25 15:04:24] | | This is less zoomed in, and shows more of the cliffs, but in less detail. You can also see the haze over the cliffs more. |

 Removed posterization | linask
(2213) [2007-03-02 14:44:02] [6] | There is a clearly visible and annoying posterization effect in the sky. I tried to remove it:
1. Selected clear sky area with photoshop magic wand tool;
2. Added 1.5% of random noise;
3. Cleared all the noise. Since there were no fine details in the selected area, very strong noise reduction could be used. |

(9153) [2007-02-02 15:12:37] [1] | Maybe I go on a bit too much about lead-in lines from corners, but it's something that always works well, and when you have lines as strong as this, it works even better.
Cheers,

 selective darkening | cobbydale
(1738) [2007-01-24 12:39:43] | | Similar to Ben's WS but I have just darkened the bits of sky between the arches, and not changed the viaduct or foreground parts at all. |

 Darken highlights | ben4321
(9153) [2007-01-24 06:26:31] [3] | I darkened the highlights using the shadow/highlight control in photoshop elements, and then went further by burning in the areas of over-exposure in the sky.
I also cropped a bit off the bottom, as I felt there was a little too much foreground.
Don't get me wrong, I like the original shot, but I think it's an improvement. |
