In PS I desaturated and then brightened (sorry I don't have the amounts, I did it several times), adjusted the levels and finally sharpened with unsharp mask.

Desaturated, toned with curves, a bit of grain, a bit of blur, a bit of contrast and a bit of unsharp mask.

I guess it could work only to increase the contrasts, but I did as follows;
1. duplicate layer
2. masked out the bacground and put contrasts to
+ 45, and erased the edges fine.
3. flatten layer and new duplicate layer
4. masked out the kids and lowered the brightness
and increasing the contrasts to + 30 (looking
at their faces being nice)
5. Erased parts of the girls that went too much
on either side (black or white)
6. Flatten image

Hope you like it. Contrasts are personal taste...

I cloned out the white stripe at the right top corner; played with levels; used unsharp mask.

1-Cropped a bit on the right hand side.
2-Cloned out the blue chair on the left side.
3-Cloned out the blue plastic sheet and the bight yellowish shelf in the upper right area.
4-Framed.

Hi, Xavier. I cropped partly to emphasise the diagonal formed by the edge of the net and the left arm and partly to eliminate everything extraneous to the man and net. I used the clone tool to eliminate a bit of blue that remained in the bottom-left. Added a frame.

The aim was to increase the size of the photo. I simply did this by re-sampling in Irfanview. I made the width 800 pixels and allowed the computer to calculate the height. Finally I sharpened a bit. It may be a good idea to run it through NeatImage to remove the noise created in the scanning process which is quite visible....

I've cropped around , modified the color level and then sharpen. Think it look better.
