(5964) [2007-11-21 17:41:06] [2] | Bonjour Loic -
I did this WS using PhotoShop CS3 but I am sure most image processing software that utilizes layers and blending modes can accomplish this WS.
1. Duplicate BG layer (ctrl+J) and change the layer blending mode to SCREEN. This lightens the whole layer and makes the FG look brighter but we loose the sun rays.
2. Add a layer mask and fill with black. Since we want to keep the sun rays we need to paint in carefully the FG.
3. Soft edged white brush with opacity set to about 24%. On the black layer mask I made one pass across the upland, just under the sun rays, any more than one pass with the brush is too much. As an afterthought try making this one pass at about 20%.
4. With the 24% brush I made multiple passes on the mask in the dark FG to open and bring up the marvelous color.
5. Flatten and save.
Screen mode can enhance noise in the shadows so running a noise filter may be necessary if the noise is bothersome. This technique is very much like Shadows and Highlights but I think it is quicker. I hope you like the results and it maintains your initial vision.
Thank you for sharing.

Voici l'original de l'image avec le même recadrage, mais sans la désaturation.
Le résultat est clairement plus 'flashy', mais j'aimais bien le côté vieillot du résultat après retouche... |

(1599) [2006-07-14 06:52:24] [2] | Hi Loic,
It's not that I didn't like your pic just the way it was as much as I wanted to see what it might look like if the greens and reds were a more intense. I hope you might like the result.
Hugs,
Tony |
