Reduced brightness -23, increased contrast +23. Then I did autolevels to correct the colours.

Decreased brightness by -14 and increased contrast by 5.
Lightened shadows by 2 and darkened highlights by 8.
Sharpened twice then reduced noise at 4 (strength).
Saturated to +12.
There's probably a much simpler way to accomplish the same thing!

I used highlight tone adjustments try to deepen the colours a bit and remove some glare on the nose. Also added a levels adjustment layer with some spot masking for nose, forehead and neck hoping to bring them down a touch. I think the difference is slight but to my eye (and perhaps my monitor!) makes it just a touch nicer. Hope you don't mind me doing this - I guess that's what these workshops are for so wanted to try it out.
