I increased the contrast, the saturation < even though this is almost a B&W > as well as sharpened the shot.

I would like to suggest a very small adjustment by way of leveling the horizon...My carpenter's eye insists on water being level.

Secondly a small increase in saturation will deepen the colours, and bring out the beatiful layering!

I like to see shots where the buildings are plumb, and the water is level < waterpas he! >

But joking aside, only small adjustments were done here:
a) straighten
b) sharpen
c) auto colour
d) auto contrast...

All steps were done in PICASA2
[ a tool I really like ]

BTW. There was/is NO oversaturation!
Colours and sphere remind me a lot of Newfoundland which also has fjords.

I liked this shot too much to ignore it! I hope you don't mind my WS:
a) a wee , tiny wee adjustment in the kilter, as I felt the tower was leaning to the right... < maybe an Italian thing eh! >
b) small crops on left and right to get rid of the b/g "noise"
and finally
c) small adjustments in colour, sharpness and contrast

I have put the shot thru the following steps:

a) place the photo in kilter, as the poles and the b/g were askew.
b) cropped left and right sides to get rid if a lot of distraction...

I like the rhythm of the shadows here...

How would you feel about this alternate presentation... I like the urban Durban a lot but would want to focus on te urban...
I found the wave in the lover left a wee distracting.

a) crop to reduce impact of that white wave front...
b) wee adjustments on colour and contrast.

a) Straighten horizon
b) crop to make path start in lower left corner
and to shift most of the light into the left third...

Then adjust
a) sharpness
b) saturation
c) contrast

The last steps making sure we don;t end up with a washed out sky...
