| Intro: | *** HAPPY NEWS *** Since September 28th 2006 I may call myself 'father' as on this date our little son Marijn (see profile photo) came into our lives! I still can't believe that he is actually there and enjoy every minute that we can spend together. So my activities on TE have been and will be a bit limited, I'm afraid. I'll be updating our homepage frequently with pictures of Marijn though.... Background: I became interested in photography because of my other hobby: aviation. I started taking pictures of aircraft in 1988 when I was 13 years old and my first serious attempts to make photos were made with a Voigtländer of my father. In 1991 I got myself a Pentax P30N and was quite happy with that body, until the electronics broke down in 1998. In the 90s I also started taking pictures (slides) of other subjects than aircraft, but most of the time photography has been limited to holiday trips. Since September 2000 I have a Nikon F70 and am extremely happy with that. Participating on Trek Earth accelerated my decision to buy a digital SLR. Since July 2004 I am the happy owner of a Nikon D70. However, I will keep using my F70 to make colour slides. Travel: In my opinion, making pictures during days of travel is great but it's hard not to 'focus' on photography only but also experience the culture, people and nature. You have to be careful not to walk all day with a "virtual" viewer in front of your eyes looking for photo opportunities and compositions, while forgetting what you are really looking at! Hobbys: Of course photography and travel, but I also like cooking, music (I play the piano and I sing) aviation, hiking, cycling and ice-skating.
