Peter1892 suggested a tighter crop to concentate on the three girls. I also tried to be morecareful about the compression- there seem to be less flaws. Thanks Peter!

standing close to the columns which is unavoidable in this close space, makes it hard to get vertical lines- I opted for a shot with a different POV.

I corrected the tilt in the horizon and cropped a bit of the sky to get closer to the 2/3 split.

this is the original shot. There were cars parked, street signs etc. as I was looking at the pic I found the alleyway more interesting than the partial arches and windows.

Oscar suggested trying this shot in black and white. Out of curiosity I tried it. The pavement of course is still the same, but while the houses look quite interesting in grey tones, somehow for me the festive look is lost.
Any comments?

the image was darkened (-29) in Elements2 and the contrast increased by 18. The colors are slightly more intense. Hope you like it.

the way the shot is divided into 3 equal vertical sections takes attention away from the harbour, the subject of the shot. I cropped all around to bring the harbour view closer.

Gabriel (pitai) suggested a darker frame since the shot does not really have a focal point.
I changed the frame and it does make a difference, I like it better this way..
