On my monitor this look a little more visible with most details still in tact. I'm sure you know how to get to this result, but a quick note.
In Adobe Photoshop.
Copy and Paste on second layer. screen back 50 use erased tool to erase the part where you don't want to lighten too much. That one way. I'm sure there are other way to do it. What you think?

This is a look from the same spot looking north-east towards Callala Beach. Looking in the tidal pool you can see it was just starting to rain.

This is the main street of Leura, known as Leura Mall. It's a great place to spend an afternoon, and maybe some money.

This is a view of the Newcastle Beach from bluffs to the south. At the top right you can see Canoe Pool with the Newcastle Ocean Baths just behind it.

These are some Sulphur-crested Cockatoos that circled me a couple of times then flew into the large Eucalyptus tree you see in my shot of the park. Depending on the time of day, and if you have a little luck, you never know what you might find up here.

This shot was taken just a few feet from the original post and of course at a different focal length. It provides a better perspective to show where I was standing for the shot. I believe the cormorant in this shot is the same one seen here.
