- I was born in Leningrad (St Petersburg) in 1977. My interest in photography started to develop very early, because my father was a keen photographer, he now lives in St Petersburg. I remember helping him to process black and white film when I was 7 or 8. Every summer we stayed in Estonia, a country of green hills, strawberry fields, water mills and haystacks, and it was the place where my feeling for the beauty of nature developed. Since the age of 11 I was attending a prestigious History of Art Club at Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg. I went to St Petersburg Physics and Mathematics Lyceum, got an MSc and a PhD in Environmental Economics and Mathematical Methods in Economics (St Petersburg University, EC INTAS Fellowship). I am a passionate traveller, as you could see from my portfolio, I've visited Austria, Belgium, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, UK, Ukraine and Russia and tried to capture the most stunning images either in my memory or on film. If I have this opportunity I visit art exhibitions and museums of fine art in countries where I happen to be, I am a frequent visitor to Hermitage (St Petersburg) and National Gallery (London), and studied major European collections of Louvre (Paris), Rijksmuseum (Amsterdam), KunstHistorisches Museum (Vienna), the moment I'm living in Cheltenham, UK and perform the duties of the Secretary of the Russian Society for Ecological Economics and organise the next 7th International Conference of the Russian Society for Ecological Economics "Globalisation. New Economy and the Environment. Business and Society Challenges for Sustainable Development" to be held in June 2005 in St Petersburg. I have an idea of having a small environmental arts festival associated with this conference.
