Here is a more naturalistic view of another of these insurrectionist photo montages. I resisted cropping it because I wanted to give some of the surroundings for context.

I raised the saturation on most colour channels as far as I thought they could go without looking unnatural, so as to make them "pop." I left magenta alone since raising it gave some very artificial highlights. I also actually lowered the level of blue, since after upping the cyan the combination was too intense.

- Slight rotation counterclockwise
- small crop, cutting out part of the "post no bills"
- increased saturation of red, yellow, and green just slightly
- mild sharpening using unsharen mask
- cloned out the remaining part of "post no bills" (some people hate the notion of cloning stuff like that out, but for small enough details I have nothing against it)
- used "image>canvas size to add a 2cm border to clear a space around it for the eye

As I say, all matters of personal taste, really. Make of it what you will.

This was done by a friend of mine, giving the whole image a brighter look (and a little more detail on the interior of the bakery as well). Let me know what you think.

I don't know how successful this was. Overexposure is impossible to really correct where it's strong because the original image has not detail. I first cropped it, to take out the portions I couldn't really do anything with, while still trying to frame it in a reasonable way (and keep the only Asians I could see in the picture). This necessarily meant losing a part of the arch. I used the black eyedropper in "curves" to set that black tone a little more optimally, then used the wand to select some of the more bleached out areas (the right-hand arch support, the light-coloured building in the middle of the frame, etc.), decreased their brightness slightly, and increased their contrast to bring out a little detail. It's far from perfect, but it shows some of what can be done.

This is the girl who was sitting in front of me on the Polar Express. After the ride she appeared to be -- like everyone else -- drained, flushed, and exhausted, but also satisfied.

Note the yellow warning label indicating that the largest person should sit on the left because, as I mentioned, they're the one who's going to be crushed by the weight of the other two riders on the bench-style seat as everyone's pulled toward the left by the machine's spinning. The drag is MUCH stronger than you might think.

I like the wider range of colours in this image, as well as the surreal orange objects in the foreground and the cluster of reflected lights near the top left.
