A part of the ruin of castle "Rolandseck" which was built in 1120 by the archbishop of Cologne and the nunnery on the island in the river. It collapsed during an earthquake in 1673.
In the arch you can see in background the ruin of castle Drachenfels on top of the rock of the same name - high above the other side of the river.
