Interesting face. Good tight framing.

I think the problem here was the backlighting. You ended up with a dark face and some of the background blown out. I used the Shadow/Highlight tool in PSE to brighten up his face, dim down the background a bit.

This is a situation where using a bit of fill flash would have helped. You could have lit his face while holding the richness of the background.

I also did a bit of color correction as his skin looked a little red to me. (But I was guessing about that.)

Nicely framed. This is a hard shot to take due to the high contrast. A bit of fill flash might have helped light the face of your backlit subject.

I used the Shadow/Highlight tool to bring her face out of the shadows a bit. I darkened the sky just a bit. And I worked on the light line along her jaw.
