Hello, Scott.

This one is a lot better - it's bigger too! I've tried to "boost" it a little by slightly increasing the contrast and colour saturation and then I sharpened it a little in Unsharp Mask.

It's still not that sharp - I'm not sure if the original image is really sharp, is it?

I used Arcsoft photostudio (which came with my camera) to decrease the brightness a lot and very slightly increase the contrast.

Hello, Scott.

I hope you're not offended by my workshop. I've used Photoshop Elements 2 which is older than the version 3 which you have used. I corrected things just with "auto" but then I sharpened it a good deal and added a very simple frame in an effort to bring out that nice pink colour in the tree - I'm not sure if that's an improvement or not. Then I resized it down to 800 pixels again. See what you think!

I thought of meddling a little bit with your photo. I enhanced the colours, worked with the contrast and sharpness a bit .Hope you like it

added more contrast and decreased level of gamma. I thought darker tones of blue and green would have a positive impact .

Ok Scott this is all I did. I wanted to show you how to compose the image in a more dramatic fashion. We call it visual tension. By putting the main subject in an offset way it pulls your eye to it and something in your brain tells you it looks good. I just cropped your photo but if you do that too much it pixelates really bad. Next time walk out to it and compose it like this and "fill the frame". I think you will have more success.

P.S. The frames are easy and help to spruce it up.

Hi, Scott.

With Photoshop Elements 2 - quite an old and basic program now - I used "auto fix" first, then increased the colour saturation a wee bit then got rid of the telegraph wires and pole with the clone stamp then sharpened it. See what you think.
