Hey, thought I'd run this image through photoshop to show you what can be achieved. The original photo has a blue cast across the scene, this might have been cause simply by your camera or the time of day. I've minimized the blue cast using 'colour adjustments' and 'photo filter(red)'. Other editing notes include straightening the horizon(image>rotate>arbitrary 1.2), sharpening(filter>unsharp mask 0.3 radius 120 amount), highlights & shadows, and levels.

This may seem overwhelming, but it took a total of 3 mins to fix. I will sit down with you one day so you can learn the basics in photo editing.

Just a quickie edit. Added contrast through "Curves", darken selected areas with "Burn" tool, sharpened with "Unsharp Mask", and cropped. What do you think?
