I balanced the colours in both mid-range, shadows and light parts, adding a bit of blue and cyan to the over-yellow brownish image. To finish it up I made it a tad bit darker and then added some contrast (only slightly) to give it a bit more punch. I also opened the curves function but did so little in that that the change was only minimal. Same with saturation, only a hint, not more.
I hope this seems realistic to you as well :D

I rotated the shot, but to retain the edges, I used this funky approach. I figured it fit with the funky nature of the photo... Then I adjusted the color (to eye) and saturated it.

I saw your note about the buildings at bottom and agreed it would look better without them. I cropped this to a panoramic format to eliminate the buildings. I also reduced brightness 10 points in Photoshop, increased contrast 25 points. I added a slight amount of saturation overall and a little extra to the greens and reds just to bring out some of the complimentary colors and reduce the monochromatic look. Added unsharp mask of 40%, .4 pixels, 1 threshold level.

As per Brian's comment, this is a wider angle version taken from the same spot (simply less zoomed). My personal preference is the original shot but I quite like this one too.

I've cropped the buildings out of the foreground and cropped part of the sky to add balance. To avoid losing too much of the river reflections I cropped slightly lower than the highest point of foreground and then cloned out the remaining bits of building and the light trail of the boat on the left hand side.

I can't decide which I prefer. Comments welcome.
