You have shown us a wonderful trio of fine images and given us a fascinating note from your travels in the Far East over forty years ago. Very interesting information about the political situation here at that time and how the Chinese were even then more dominant and more technically advanced than the Nepalese. Judging by the mountainous nature of the terrain and the crude roadworks, I can imagine that your journeys here must have been both slow and arduous.
Three beautiful photographs, all of amazing quality considering that they have been scanned from old Kodachrome slides, but all with fine light and colours and excellent composition.
This posting reminds me so much of a book which, on the recommendation of my father, I read many years ago when I was still at school. The book, "Travels in Tartary", was written by a traveller and journalist, Peter Fleming (the brother of Ian Fleming who wrote the "James Bond" books). In the 1930s, Fleming travelled to Peking and spent almost two years travelling, mainly on foot, through China and Tibet to India. The book is a fascinating read and, though it is a long time since I read it, I remember being quite amazed by the fact that he was often able to overcome difficulties at borders and with various officials by brandishing two weapons - a puny revolver and a British passport. Unfortunately I don't think either of those would nowadays stand you in good stead - probably just invite derision - but in those days of the Empire a young British man with a public school education was probably blessed with a huge amount of self-confidence and arrogance too!
