I think you have certainly chosen the best POV for the main post...this is an easy 10 out of 10 in my mind.
love the powerful and dominating round ends, they have an almost 3D like effect.
and the lighting/colors are exactly how'd you want them to be.

you put a good twist on this shot...haha...pardon the pun!
reading your note, it sounds like a wonderful place to go for a walk - but perhaps not along in the dark!
and anytime you can include a Graveyard in there too, it can only enhance the experience.
obviously the misty mood and atmosphere are the key elements here, and the contrast between the dark tree trunks and lighter colored areas of the scene.

this is why i enjoy TE so much...Reading your note I have certainly learned something new today.
most other photo websited don't so such things.
too bad the skyline and lighting were not in your favour, but really...what could you have done? I'm not sure.

I know the blue sky is saturated, but who the heck cares! I would be very very happy with this photo.
