I increased the brightness in the entire photo in photoshop. I then completely eliminated the entire brightness from the background to maintain the woderful sky colours (i simply used the erase tool). I also slightly increased the saturation - ever so slightly.
I edited the image in photoshop by increasing the brightness. When I increased the brightness the effects of the cloud went away. So after increasing the brightness I used the erase tool to eliminate the added brightness from the sky.
You might be able to eliminate the need to do this with use of a graduated filter maybe??
The first thing I did was reduce the highlights in photoshop. I then reduced the brightness and increased the contrast slightly. I then deleted the brightness and contrast from the middle part of the image to preserve its details. I then ever so slightly increased the saturation. Not by much just a little. Most of the colours have come from reducing the highlights and contrast.
