This is the passage that leads to the interior of this tomb. On the equinox of spring and autumn, the light bounces from one stone to another until it eventually lights up the backstone in the very center. Some carvings can just about be seen on the stone to the loft foreground.
Adjacent to the great Roman colonnade area, view due south, there is the basilica compound.
Excavations known from early 19th century until very late in our time in 2007, found a Roman basilica and a city hall dating back to the time of Herod, later rebuilt by the Byzantines.
