I like the lighting on this one - the lighting on the building, the sunset, and the dusky sky. They all work together with your description of a good place to spend a little time.
Sounds like your interests in subjects are pretty close to mine, and since I'm a new photographer, I invite you to take a look from time to time.'

I recently saw this wonderful photo after doing a search for the Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ20. I is exciting to see that you were able to take such wonderful photos with this camera. I just inherited one, and am getting into photography, having also just retired and moved to a beautiful are of the U.S., the southern part of the state of Indiana, the small town (37,000) of New Albany.
I am excited about seeing photos from so far away, and I hope you'll take a look at mine as well. They are obviously from a different part of the world, and when I take a picture of something "old", it usually dates from maybe the early 20th century! A lot of these are barns and buildings from small towns, and I guess they don't hold up for very long, as you'll see from some of the barns.
Looking forward to making comparisons, especially of the Lumix FZ20, and I hope I'll hear back from you.

I really like this particular photo. The sunset showing in the distance between the nearby road through the mountains is a very nice touch. I like the composition and point of view of the photo, which puts the road in a good perspective, and makes you feel like you are in the car.

I just saw your new photo of the little boy with the rosy cheeks - what a lovely picture of a child! I think that you are a very good photographer, even though you describe yourself as an amateur. I would put myself in the same category.
