On the map of the Island of Oahu (one of eight islands comprising the Hawaiian Archipelago) the city of Honolulu is in the south, as are the airport, the famous "Pearl Harbor" where the Japanese attack took place in 1942 and Waikiki Beach. The mountain seen in the main photo are in the northwestern part of the island. Our flight was counterclockwise starting and ending at the airport.
Later in the evening, it was the photographer in the center who was waving a plate glass filter in the upper portion of the lens. He was doing time exposure shots. In the old days in dark room work, one would use a dodging tool under an enlarger. One of the photographers recorded the event with an iPhone (second from the right).
