I saw this woman outside a small temple in the city of Patan. This is a fairly heavily cropped photo. Her small child was playing in what was originally the right side of the photo, but there was also the blurred head of somebody else in front of the baby, so I decided to delete that part.
I couldn't take a photo of the border any closer than this. The nearest building with the double roof is the Nepalese customs house. To the right of it you can see the "Friendship Bridge" and the Chinese customs and immigration buildings.
Looking at this area today on Google earth it seems that fairly sizable towns have been built on both sides of the border. In 1972 the area was almost empty. Now of course there is also a heavy traffic of goods and tourists going this way. Times have changed in 42 years.
