Sunrise on the Hậu River in my beloved Cần Thơ,

Cần Thơ is the biggest city in the Mekong Delta. The city is located on the south bank of one of the biggest branches of the Mekong River. Its climate is tropical and monsoonal with two seasons: rainy, from May to November and dry, from December to April. Average annual humidity is 83%, rainfall 1,635 mm and temperature 27 °C.

The city is the delta's most important centre of economics, culture, science and technology. It has a large freshwater port and several industrial parks. Cần Thơ University, with its well-known College of Agriculture, is the leading university of the region.

This was my home from 1999 to 2001.

Salut Benny,

Light is amazing in your frame while using the low angled sun. Silhouettes are really eye catching especially passengers on the boat at foreground with a man holding a bicycle. Splendid sky and reflections on water, congratulations. Have a nice new week.

"Ombres chinoises sur le Mékong" : c'est superbe.
Avec une note spéciale pour l'homme et son vélo.

Ce fleuve est mythique pour moi j'ai rêvé le voir depuis toujours, j'ai comblé ce rêve il y a deux ans et j'aime le retrouver sur TE.

At a glance this is just another sunset shot. What got my attention was the people on the boat... though everybody is anonymous because of the silouhetted effect, you can tell that each person is involved in their own business. Very elegant capture.

By tec h not the best with some noise in there Benny - but then the motif and choice of vertical format is good for the balance and final result of this moody sunrise with the silhouetted persons and boats.

Hi Benny. Wonderful silhouettes and I agree with jrj that the vertical format suits the shot. I don't know why, but I seem to be shooting a lot in vertical at the moment and I get the impression it is not to everyone's taste. The balance here is perfect between sky and water. Chris

Hi Benny,
This sure have some similarity to my sunset on the lake, except your is a river, a river of my life, the Mekong and my beloved and it will be in my memory forever. I only hope China will not build a big dam up there like they planned, that would change the destiny of this river forever.
Anyway this is a beautiful image, more than just the sunset, but the lives of this people that depend on this river, the strong silhouette of the local villagers contrast very well against the river and the lighter shade of the hills give depth to the image. I absolutely love it. I wish to visit Vietnam soon. Thanks Benny, and this desert more attention. Excellent work always.

Bonjour Benny,
Magnifique théâtre d'ombres où tu nous convies. L'impression de calme et de douceur est extraordinaire avec ce soleil qui se fond dans la brume et ces gens qui circulent si naturellement dans cet univers aquatique, même si j'imagine que la réalité doit être plus dure à vivre avec ce climat très humide et l'eau qui devient parfois menaçante certainement.
Superbe travail, bravo!
