The St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. Built in Neo-Byzantine style, it serves as the cathedral church of the Patriarch of Bulgaria and is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world, as well as one of Sofia's symbols and primary tourist attractions.
The construction of the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral started in 1882 (having been planned since 19th February, 1879), when the foundation stone was laid, but it was in fact built between 1904 and 1912 in honour to the Russian soldiers who died during the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, as a result of which Bulgaria was liberated from Ottoman rule.
There is a museum of Bulgarian icons inside the cathedral crypt, part of the National Art Gallery. The church claims that the museum contains the largest collection of Orthodox icons in Europe.

interesting picture of a nice place with a light effect of a running car (or a bus, considering dimension).
Oh, so strong vibration when the bell ring? Like an earthquake.

Hello Silvia, if it snowed today in Sofia, tomorrow it will certainly arrive to Turkey. I liked the contrast of the church against the dark blue sky and the light effect of passing vehicle. Regards, Tolga

Hi Silvia.
An interesting slower exposure, with tripod ensuring sharpness of the details of the building. The long shaft of light from the car or bus seems to be going into or coming out of the cathedral doorway. Maybe I would have corrected the tilt in the photo, but apart from that it is a good shot and I like the combination of the deep blue sky and the well lit church.

A very attractive night composition with the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia. The first snow is always a pleasure when it comes. I like the majestic building the way you have chosen to shhot and the combination of yellow and blue. The effect of the car passing by really creates something different which I like

Olá Silvia,
uma bela foto essa, principalmente por causa do contraste entre o céu azul e a iluminação dourada. Gostei também do efeito de movimento do carro, da um dinamismo à imagem. Belo trabalho.
Escrevi em português porque li em sua nota que está praticando a língua de Camões, mas se preferir, as próximas escrevo em Inglês mesmo.

The famous landmark of Sofia, showed differently here...the slow shutter speed lent those details of the lines caused by the car head & tail lights. Fine night shot against the late blue hour sky! Nice one in the WS as well! :-)
