Photographer’s Note
A little composition playing with the sails of Asgard II:
- the sails in the foreground are the port side of the fore mast: fore sail, top sail and topgallant;
- in the background, the main mast and main sail.
For the sailing technical side, the pictures taken that day are interesting because the wind was coming stight from behind us, which explains with the square sails were braced completly "square" (meaning perpendicular to the ship's axis), and no jib or stay sail was set. As a consequence, there was a perfect view on the square sails, as you will see in the two workshops. I have taken another two from the bowspruit, which I will show latter.

And a very nice week end to all.

Wow, this is fantastic. I must say, I have been waiting for something like this. They are always spectacular when the sails are out and filled by the wind. Excuse the terminology but I know nothing about technical sailing terms. Anyway, I love this picture. Well done.

Hi Emmanuel, This is well composed with the sail curving tight to the right & pointing sharply to the bottom & the mast moving up from the right corner, there is fabulous detail as there is in all your shot, wonderful clear light & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Bonjour Emmanuel,
Excellent week-end.
Daniel.

Hallo Emmanuel!
A wonderful graphic effect is in this photo! All these curves and lines - great, and the colours make this picture up! There's something like dynamics in it ...
Greetings from Germany - with first snow!

Spectacular and appealing composition. The sails, the winds, and their play are the protagonists of this photo. I forgot to mention the light which gives vitality to the image.
Well done,

Bonjour Emmanuel
The billowing sail against the blue sky, makes this beautiful. Like the graphic elements created by the mast & the rope ladders converging on the mast in the BG, framed by the sail. Well done!
Best Regards

Bonjour Emile,
What a great sail; it almost looks like a very broad reach. Of course I know nothing abiour square-riggers.
So far this is my favorite of your sail pictures because it not only shows the sails full and drawing, it shows the very interesting rigging and the cloudy horizon. Great clarity of your colors and the detail is pin-sharp.
I like your note a lot, it is very interesting to me to hear about the mechanics of sailing.
Thanks for the note,I hadn't picked up on the changed angle between the primary post and the workshop.

A very nice composition that truly shows the mechanics of sailing with the way you were able to include both rigging and sails. The curve of the foresail is a very strong compositional element.

Bela paisagem nautica registrada nesta foto. A composição gráfica da mesma é muito interessante passando uma sensação de movimento. Belas cores, enquadramento e nitidez. Bom trabalho.

Hello Emmanuel,
I like the dynamics in this composition, created by choice of the point of view!
The white sails combine so well with the blue sky, excellent framing with great colours & details...
