Photographer’s Note
This is a picture taken from the Olympic Stadium built by Hitler to house the 1936 summer Olympics. It is very large structure and the stone with which it is built seems very cold and imposing. It felt like a place built to impress the audience, rather than to act as a meeting spot for friendship. I was particularly fascinated by the tree in full color at the entrance to the stadium. It seemed like an act of defiance against the otherwise lifeless stone building.

Bonsoir Kate,
Un monument impressionnant et c'est vrai que l'arbre lance un défi aux colonnes..bien observé.
J'y suis passé en 1978...très belle ville Berlin.
A impressing monument and it's true that tree launches a challenge to the columns. .good observation.
(Passed in 1978… very beautiful Berlin city.)

Hi Kate, I find this an impressive photo, i like how you have shown the structure imensity, it really dwarfs the people. The greyness of the day has helped to convey the austerity of the place with its clinical lines. The trees seem almost out of place. Thanks Tom.
