Photographer’s Note
In 1065, William the Conqueror besieges and burns the castle of Dinan. One century later, the city will be girded walls out of stone. Locking the roads of the kingdom of France and Normandy, Dinan revêt with the Middle Ages a major strategic importance: ducal city as from 1283, the city thrives with the passing of years. To the military character comes, under l' influence dukes of Brittany Jean the Russet-red one and Jean II, s' to add an economic role of size: inland waterway, the Rancid one makes of Dinan a prosperous city within which the trade of cloths and leathers develops. With the XIV° century, the convents profit largely from l' ducal interest (Cordeliers, Jacobins), while Dinan becomes l' one of place-strong principal of Brittany, under l' impulse of the duke Jean IV. The keep of the castle of Dinan n' is not without pointing out the Solidor tower of Saint-Malo, built before some ten years.

what a wonderful view! :-) were you standing on top of a tower? the mix of the older houses and rows of green trees and
bushes is great. the sky is the thing that caught my eye on this one - the dark dramatic clouds are awesome - hope it did not
start to rain. well done & best wishes, thor.

Goedenavond Guy,
