It is a safe swimming beach for the family, and there is also a boat club for junior sailors in the Bay as well. Murrays Bay Sailing Club is a very well known club with good results in yachting competitions, both in New Zealand and overseas.

This wharf / jetty at Murrays Bay is used for recreational fishing mainly. Come summer, this is a very popular place for the children and many spend all afternoon jumping off the wharf – when the tide is in. Much to the dismay of the fishermen – no fish are around then!

There is an adjacent grass reserve and playground area as well. There are walkways leading along the cliff tops with spectacular views of the coastline.

We have lived here for 20 years now. First we lived in an old beach cottage, but 13 years ago my husband demolished the cottage and built our home there. We thoroughly enjoy living here in the East Coast Bays.

You are so fortunate to live in such a wonderful spot, it makes me want to come visit :) I would spend my days on this pier with a good book and NEVER get anything done!! I love how the water looks in this picture! TFS

A simple but very evocative atmosphere. I like the boat getting back to harbour, it reminds me of my sailing trips in summer. Good sense of depth and light management.
