Photographer’s Note

Most towns in Sarawak are established along riverbanks or river mouths due chiefly to the need for river transport, as other transport modes are not available. Until late 1970s when a trunk road linking all towns in Sarawak was built, it was the only option that goods and cargoes were done by shipping. Most of us in a generation ago were growing up using river transport. But in 1990s the economy picked up and growth was impressive enough to bring some deveopment to Sarawak. One of such will be the Borneo Highlands, 1 hour drive from Kuching city.

Here, highland resort living at 1200m altitude along the interior border of Sarawak is one of the promotion campaigns during the last 10 years when access road is built. Since then gardens and 18-hole golf course is provided. The tropical rainforest and cooler temperature is a drawing factor for people to visit this area, which is predominantly resided by Bidayuh people.

Hello Bill,
very beautiful view! the blue sky with just as beautiful clouds adds a lot to the cheerful mood of this image. It's funny that the clouds and the whole composition are arranged in such a way that the look inevitably goes to the centre of the photo. Very good composition and good colours (including the red of the flowers which brighten up the scene as the sun seems to have hidden somewhere ;))

Lovely attractive place, Bill. Everything is at the shadow but you still manage to get a good palette of colors dominated by this green grass filling the FG. The cloudy sky is enhancing the picture. It seems like paradise for living.

The beautiful blue sky with its lovely clouds carries the day here as it makes a brilliant contrast to the lush green foreground.

Lovely green grass, so very vibrant the color of the grass, I like how the cloud hangs very low in the field.
