Photographer’s Note
Leading up from behind the National Theatre is Rua das Portas de Santo Antão, a lively pedestrian-only street known for its seafood restaurants. At number 58 is the Casa do Alentejo, a peculiar 17th century building worth dropping into.
Beautiful period building and rooms, restaurant serving divine regional food, courtyard, library, ballroom, stunning architecture - so many reasons to visit and admire this place that offers numerous photographic opportunities as well! (see my previos posts and WSs for more info)
In the WS you can see the entrance to the Casa as seen from within its hallway.
And if you want to see a few other details of the house interior (in b/w):

Hi Robi,
This series of yours is superb. You really succeed in showing the timeless atmosphere of the place, using the wide angle lens to produce great compos and images with amazing sharpness/clarity and colours seldom seen in indoor shots. In this one, it's remarkable how the compo is so tidy and well balanced; the tidiness of the room helps on that, but the POV is far from the obvious and any less talented photographer would easily get entangled with a messy perspective and/or an unbalanced visual arrangement. I think the same about the WS, which is also a great photo.
Regards, José.

Hi Robi, I wholeheartedly agree with Jose, this really has been a delightful series. You have certainly done these majestic interiors justice. Superb colours & well chosen POV's. Exceptional.
Best regards, Roberto

By now, I find out that I don't know the place so well as I thought. I came here only a few times, and the last one a few years ago. And my memory is becoming worse...Again, I have to say that this is a superb architectural picture, even if the reading room is still the image that excites me more. Technically this one seems perfect to my eyes, similar to the ones I find in good books. It's clean and sharp. The diagonal of the chairs is eye catching although the oval painting in the ceiling is the most attractive element here. Good complementar WS as well and congratulations on this excellent series, Robi.
cheers,
ricardo
