Photographer’s Note

Here in the photothe Alzette River winds through the Grund neighbourhood
Centre Grund is centrally situated in the heart of Luxembourg below the centre of Luxembourg City on the banks of the Alzette River and, in addition to being a picturesque area, is a popular nightlife precinct which can be accessed by foot or via a lift which descends through the cliff.. Downtown area with all its attractions is within walking distance while main railway station is just 500 metres away. Main attractions of this area are: Museum of Natural History, St Baptiste Church and Chapel of St Quirin.

Another one of this very nice city in the capitol of Luxembourg. Realy something for photographers, I hope you like the photo. iso 100

This is a truly not everyday point of view - with an intriguing effect! The contrast here between the mirror of the water and the falling water is amazing. Because of the fancy perspective a really interesting photo.

The POV ise very well selected and gives an intersting and great POV. Good use of light too under a sky with clouds, this good use of light gives nice colours, contrats and especially reflections on the left.

Hallo Jaap,

Ik zat gisteravond weer eens voor Jan Lul te typen want toen ik wilde opslaan had jij je foto alweer verwijderd. Nu waren dat ook niet mijn beste woorden want die foto was erg moeilijk, maar toch, voor Jan met de korte achternaam zitten te typen is nooit leuk. Er liep hier vroeger iemand rond die dit constant deed en op een gegeven moment ben ik gestopt met het posten van een comment op zijn foto's.

Nu ik dit zie vraag ik me ook waarom je die van gisteren uberhaupt gepost hebt. Kan me voorstellen dat niet iedere foto een winnaar is en dat telkens superieure kwaliteit leveren niet te doen is. Maar toch, deze is zoveel beter dan die van gisteren. Niet alleen kwa licht, maar ook de kleursetting, de compositie, en de zeer strakke lijnen maken dit beeld zeer fraai. Het enige wat in die andere mij meer beviel was de boot ipv dit huis, maar in het geheel wint deze het op alle fronten.

Nice POV and composition here using the dam to lead the eye through the shot. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF. The reflection is nice giving the shot a nice sense of depth.

Hallo Jaap,

Het is inderdaad er niet makkelijker op geworden, maar ik zie op de andere sites ook problemen, dus even blijven waar we zijn.
De opbouw van deze foto is zeer goed doordacht gedaan, links de kleinewaterval samen met de weerspiegelingen van het gebouw.
Midden de rechte lijn die ons meevoert naar achter, van dit prachtig beeld, ook technisch fraai foto werk, mooi gedaan, beste vriend, Jaap. Bedankt.

Wow, another spectacular image from you, Jaap. The foam along this splendid perspective makes a fantastic effect. And the low exposure of 1/30s enhanced it. There's also a nice reflection at left and I like the golden wall at right that seems like a snake catching sun ;-) Congratulations, once again.

Prachtige foto waarin veel te zien is.
Mooi perspectief met de waterval zo naar het hart vande foto toe. De spiegeling is een mooi cadeautje. Het gebogen muurtje rechts is een mooi contrast met de strakke lijnen links.

Sur la vignette je me demandais si ce n'était pas de la neige. La composition est remarquable avec la perspective de ce barrage. Les reflets et la lumière sont également très beaux.

It is a strange structure on the river but a very photogenic one. I love the effect on all the little water jets. It looks like a slower speed than 1/60sec, so they really must be flowing fast. There is lovely light on the right and still plenty to see on the more shaded left. The reflections are particularly pretty, and of course your trademark use of perspective works as well as always.

J'apprécie tout particulièrement cette image à cause d'une variation intéressante de la luminosité sur les différents plans de l'image et cet éclairage spot sur l'aile droite de l'édifice, sans oubler cet effet otique sur le réfléchissement en bas à gauche.

Amazing POV, and perfect choice of exposure in that beautiful soft light. The sharpness of the detail throughout the image is superb.
I like the effect the water makes as it runs over the levy and through the rocks. Perfect composition, you have excluded nothing from this fine capture.

I like this one a lot, because it has the usual excellent technical qualities, but that's not all, of course! What mostly attracts me in this one is the way you composed it using this "small" and beautiful waterfall and the reflection right before it!

This is a very nice place. The light on the right part enhances the whole composition, giving it nice colours and some 'peps'.
I also like the movements of the water.
The only detail that I don't like here is the blue frame. Of course, it has nothing to do with the quality of the photo, which is excellent.

Heel mooi hoe je gebruik gemaakt hebt van het watervalletje. THe scheing tussen spigelwater links en woellig water rechts maakt het heel interessant. Prachtig.

Sorry Jaap,
But for me it's not an interesting picture. There is nothing to see on it. Well, that's true, you take it very well but it's just a place with no life. Buildings are cold, composition is ok but... nothing in it to give a feeling. It's just a good execution. It's just seem to me that you have a lot of point here and people are just giving you more. People here are too kind, you won't learn by reading what they say about your picture. That's true, i cannot done picture as beautifull as yours, but i think i can take some more interesting. I do not see all your galleries, you should have some very interesting shot, but this one is not a good one.
