Photographer’s Note

Prassonissi beach at the southern tip of Rhodes is an amazing place. A thin spit of sand bounded on one side by the Mediterranean and on the other by the Aegean Seas. The Med side tends to be somewhat calmer and used mainly by windsurfers. The Aegean side has much bigger waves and is the domain of experienced windsurfers and the madmen who go kite surfing!
Hopefully this image goes some way to demonstrating why I think the kite surfers are crazy. Flying 30 or more feet into the air whilst attached to a giant kite doesn't seem a sane pastime to me.
That said it is certainly spectacular to watch. I fired off literally dozens of shots, but this is the only one I feel worked, at least to an extent, as it has all the elements I wanted to capture.
