Shadow play with the fiords Photo

Photographer’s Note

One more photo from lake Plastiras, taken from an observation post, at an altitude of 1450 meters. The lake's altitude is around 750-800. In order to get to the observation post you 'll have to pass Belekomytis village with direction to the south and you'll see a sign to the right, writing "Observation post" in Greek ("Παρατηρητήριο").

From there it's a 3 km drive. The last 2 km on a dirtroad. The observation post was originally destined for birdwatchers, but the view of the lake is so beautiful that noone watches the passing birds. Doesn't it look a little bit like small fiords?

What some awesome colors !
An impressive point of view to admire the lake and the incredible banks.
The vertical framing is judiciously chosen to make the landscape even more impressive.
The play of shadows is great, and gives a 3D effect.

Hello Hercules,

This is a completely new aspect of Greece to me! I'm not quite sure why, but it does not look like the Greece that I have visited; perhaps it is the abundance of green trees.
Anyway, it is a fabulous vista of water and land, interlocking like fingers.
The portray style adds to the impression of vastness.
I like how the light creates subtle colour tones on the water and the land.

Ooh, a superb light here! I love the tones of blue-green of the lake and the strong contrast with the vegetation, specially the dried "rusted" leaves.I like very much the POV with a lovely succession of curves. The brush of sunlight gives an excellent mood to the pic. Congratulations

Really here it seems more Scandinavia than Greece!
It's such a fine coastal view where the dim light play a special role. The place is undoubtly attractive enough, but what's more important is your composition with the trees in the foreground and the good job you made in pp.

Magnifica fotografía del lago y sus alrededores captada desde un alto punto de vista que nos permite disfrutar de tanta belleza, me gustan los colores fuertes y las diferentes áreas donde encuentras luz y otras con sombras. What an amazing work with perfectly beautiful color!
Emerald green of the lake, yellow of the shore, green of the wood, and vermilion of the leaves in the foreground. They are piercing my eyes. The spot light brought a splendid effect.

This aerial view is shot at the best possible time, both for the season's colours and the light playing with cloud shadows.

The fjords are well presented from this height and it most be terrific to see 360° from this watching tower.
