Another simple daily life scene found in the narrow alleys of the west bank of the river Nile, in Aswan.
I often caught the public ferry to the other side and get lost in the villages, far away from tourists. The fact is that the traditional architecture of their houses was also very attractive to my eyes, along with people. Here you also see a lot of decorative paintings and that blue is the mostly used color but stronger colors can be found in other facades.

Wonderfull capture from Egypt. Very good pov and nice compo with many nice details. Very nice and interesting graffiti on the wall of the house at background; both islamic and period of pharaos.
TFS and best regards
Manamo (3654) 2008-11-06 12:53
very interesting daily life shot.
For me, the ideal point of view would have been directly in between the 2, about at that place where you see many darker rocks (??) on the ground. It seems to me like you'd get a more dynamic and intimate view on the scene.
However, with your shot, it's very graphical thx to the line at eye level and those lines of shadows on the ground.
I like the colors and the drawings on the wall. Most of all, I like the interaction between the 2 characters.
I like it very much!
marjan (6279) 2008-11-06 13:02
ciao ricardo, very nice shot , good motive and superb colours.
ALIRIZA (16423) 2008-11-06 13:03
Really wonderful daily life shot with good light, nice colours and many good details. Excellent composition...
zesopol (258) 2008-11-06 13:08
Hello Ricardo, you capture the good moment. I wonder what the mother did to her child.
Ze'sopol from Timor-Leste
giorgimer (34804) 2008-11-06 13:10
wonderful image, it seems to be coming out from a drea. I like a lot the woman and the baby, the colored homes are absolutely wonderful. It's just a pity for the electric wires and the satellite dishes.
Very well done!
edal (6804) 2008-11-06 13:14
It's a magnifficent capture from a place, that is far from tourist paths - very interesting, indeed.
InasiaJones (31442) 2008-11-06 13:21
What a great capture you are presenting Ricardo!
These houses are fantastic and so is the scene of the little boy and the lady.
With the shadow in foreground, the light creates a box that is "delimiting" the action.Impressive facades, like coming out of an Indiana Jones movie. Excellent!
bostankorkulugu (41934) 2008-11-06 13:23
none of the wires around are disturbing in this one ric... not even the satellite dish... what i like bes is her slippers matching the blue of the walls... an amazing daily life shot that is, love it a lot mister...
rigoletto (34225) 2008-11-06 13:40
except some modern details, that should be quite similar to how it looked some thousands of years ago. beautiful colors.
jonathan_hart (21274) 2008-11-06 13:53
i don't understand what is going on with this woman and the boy, but the architecture is indeed very interesting to see, seems the light was harsh, but it could be more bright actually
emka (73743) 2008-11-06 13:55
Hi Ricardo, you show splendid pictures of Egypt, quite unknown places. Interesting graffiti on the walls. it looks very promitive but they have staellite television. There is also something interesting berween the houses. Nice scene from everyday life.
phwall (6785) 2008-11-06 14:21
Interesting capture, your composition using the wall on the right of frame confines the shot and defines the boundaries of this little area, I like that. The colours, and shapes of the houses is well presented and I particularly like the interaction between the older woman and the child.
Certainly an image from off the beaten tourist track.
jmdias (52918) 2008-11-06 15:40
chris04stop (6791) 2008-11-06 15:40
A beautiful photo, Ricardo. Great colors. And a very strange, strong contrast between the old, traditional architecture and the big thing for TV! I love very much, Ricardo, your pics without tourists! Bravo,
adores (34734) 2008-11-06 16:31
hispic (9619) 2008-11-06 19:19
This is an excellent composition with all of the elements expertly placed, The color on the facade give an impact to this splendid shot.
Do the people in this village like to be photographed?
Have a nice day, Hisashi
Stepan (27210) 2008-11-06 22:51
A strange world where a dish stands close to an old traditional world. That's what I enjoy the most here.
With the soft colors and the blue walls.
Well done and... shared.
shevchenko (19051) 2008-11-06 23:10
Interesting composition to show daily life and cultural from the old city, attractive and interesting with new style words ( resemble to the Islamic words ) and old Egyptian symbols texts appear all togather on a wall, beautiful local houses paint in blue, thanks for sharing from the center of Aswan city.
sevy (15357) 2008-11-07 0:02
The composition of this shot is wonderful thanks to the right placement of the boy and the lady. Moreover there are placed in a colored and nice street providing a real feeling of discovery when reading the photo.
gildasjan (41064) 2008-11-07 0:42
bakes888 (18499) 2008-11-07 1:04
Hi Ricardo. It still amazes me where you see satellite dishes perched! Great photo. Good to see the human touch too. Well captured and thanks for sharing.
Have a good weekend, Paul.
John_F_Kennedy (42048) 2008-11-07 3:01
A lovely image with a good POV, perspective and view. The colours and textures are lovely.
carper (96) 2008-11-07 3:36
it's a nice one again Ricardo,
a fine pov here, good colours and a well capture of the moment, very good photojob, have a nice day.
macondo (18551) 2008-11-07 4:55
A marvellous daily life shot, superbly composed and well exposed. I love the apparent ageless surroundings, architecture, clothing, contrasted with the satellite dish on the roof. It's a great shot of the two figures, with their poses telling some kind of story. I love the blue colour in this shot, and the way you have managed to get so much of this yard into the frame. Well done.
Aline_N (3175) 2008-11-07 5:44
I am very surprised by the beauty of these colored facades.
You photographied them in a beautiful way : the lighr is well balanced, even in the sky and on the wall, the composition too, and the life scene is perfectly catched. Two little spots of green with the door and the tshirt.
Well seen, well done.
patdeph (35748) 2008-11-07 7:47
the colours of these houses and their architecture is wonderful, their blue gives a nice harmony with the sky!I like very much the woman in typical clothes and the little boy, giving animation to the picture! And I like how the shadow is framing a part of the compo!Very well done!
feather (51130) 2008-11-07 8:21
Wonderful body language of the little boy. He looks like he expects to be in trouble. You're becoming very adept at these daily life images. You found a wonderful corner with the blue decorated buildings. Well done
Photo65Net (43120) 2008-11-07 9:45
Superb colors here !
I like a lot your technical job, as always, and your compo, great job,
Have a nice day,
Cricri (101805) 2008-11-07 11:32
Have a nice evening for you
devimeuxbe (58557) 2008-11-07 13:01
Nice visoon with nice coloprs on the wall. It give an other glance on Egypt. The contrasts are well managed
Gerrit (44715) 2008-11-07 14:43
The interaction and the environmenty are both very strong.
The signs on the beautiful blue building are very intruiging.
AiresSantos (56155) 2008-11-08 1:58

yaya13baut (3344) 2008-11-08 2:30
nice daily life shot with this woman and her little green boy, fine colors and interesting architecture.
cuneyt-sb (6559) 2008-11-08 7:34
İ ve look at your galley , all your photos are clear and nice,
also they all have good compo,
Here as same , colors and timing is very good ,
Emile (20350) 2008-11-08 10:06
zeynepe (9833) 2008-11-08 11:44
The pictures,Arabic alphabets on the wall attracts me so much but the great thing you captured the mother and her son... How did you take this shot- you should be an invisible man :D
Have a nice Sunday,
Floydian (30970) 2008-11-08 12:29
From the thumbnail it looks like a Dali painting with the adult, the cild and the disc. They are not really clear from there, that's why i had that idea when seeing it. Open it on large size it shows even more beautiful details. There is interaction between the woman and child, the colours and paintings on the walls look great and that disc....well, it doesn't belong there, but it sure looks great in contrast and as nice extra focal point....the new world comes in site to these people with their old traditions.
Burberry1 (6041) 2008-11-08 12:31
U captured a great and very traditional corner which has its special atmosphere.
The light and colors are great and the contrast between these two egiptian people great!
sacavem (18610) 2008-11-08 12:35
paura (47166) 2008-11-08 16:29
Wanda1 (14978) 2008-11-08 22:56
I find the houses fascinating with those drawings and pictures on them, and the blue colour adds to the beauty. I like the two people framed in the saquare of the houses and I especially like the little child and his shadow looking so small amongst everything. A nice scene.
ribeiroantonio (22637) 2008-11-08 23:02
robiuk (10807) 2008-11-09 14:01
Interesting framing with that wall on the right hand side
that maximises the perspective. Very serene, laid-back
shot where th ehuge satellite dish almost dominates the
scene (I've seen these dishes in some of your previous
posts as well).
The painting on the wall I find interesting - unlike
western graffiti, these look more like religious?
pablominto (53744) 2008-11-10 10:27
A colourful documentary, showing grandma and the little one having a talk in the backyard!
The fine light renders great colours, and the traditional architecture contrasts with the satellite dish...
Interesting decoration on the house, with the eye, the fish and so on..!
faubry (35405) 2008-11-10 16:34
hello ricardo, very nice vivid colors, and this composition is very well caught, little prince....
horatiuTT (4570) 2008-11-11 3:01
Beautiful scene here with this really interesting city views,
the dialog between the old lady and the boy it's lovely.Well framed I think.
danos (83541) 2008-11-11 6:52
sorry but this one is for me more interesting that your last one.Very characteristic shot of the daily life in Nubia with the specific colors and the the paintings on the walls. The enlightenment as all over the world, thought the gigantic antenna.Excellent presentation.
Have a nice afternoon,Danos
kensimage (8561) 2008-11-11 22:39
Even though the two are far apart, there's clearly an interaction going on, and that makes this shot work very well. I'm surprised she didn't object to your photo, as Moslem women generally do. I like the fact that the satellite dish and wires are included--they're a part of everyday life, too, no reason to pretend this scene is 100 years ago. Regards, Ken.
Angshu (54895) 2008-11-12 0:31
These houses remind me of those in Rajasthan, especially the art on the walls. Interesting candid daily life shot, seems you were hidden behind the wall on the right! Like those wires & dish ;-), how on earth can we avoid them? ;-). The little fellow looks a bit tense. Wonderful daily life shot my friend!
Cara (2059) 2008-11-14 14:40
manatee (4658) 2008-11-14 17:20
Wow really this is amazing m dear friend, I love this and I feel so happy yo show us this wonderful places, I like the whole scene, weel will be nice hiden the wires and the T.V antenas, but as you said this is part of the daily life and I like the whole context. But the lady and the little boy fill the picture is really very nice see the contrasting colors.
Thank you Ric.
Enjoyy your vacation time
Vato_Law (12720) 2008-11-16 13:19
flory (4848) 2008-11-20 1:28
did a 'walk' in your gallery:)even heard that you have a new camera,so wish her just masterpieces:)good daily life with those decorative paintings on the wall..just wondering how it looks if you have the personages with a close view..and those wonderful walls in bk.kill me now:)
josepmarin (57575) 2008-11-21 8:43
rbcy1974 (20758) 2008-11-26 10:19
Very beautiful view of daily life, I love the colourful houses and the intimacy of the scene.
TopGeo (38192) 2008-12-05 0:57
Hi Ricardo! Really they is a interesting picture. Fascinating moment! His colour indigo is also bad driver of heat. Important glance in their daily life that impressed me.
b021 (500) 2009-01-21 8:55
Nice composition with beautiful colours !
Urs (14082) 2009-11-09 3:14
A wonderful shot of daily life, the mother and the kid, and not to be forgotten the colorful BG. These blue houses remind me on Jodhpur, an Indian town in Rajasthan, which is called the blue city because of the color of its. houses. Very vibrant colors, bold contrast of red-brown and blue. Well done
