The Cathedral of Aegina:

The cathedral of Aegina is a three-aisled church with three red domes. The middle aisle is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin , the right one to Saint Dionysius, the patron saint of the island, and the left one to Saint John the Theologian.
The cathedral was also used as a parliament in 1827 and 1828. It was here that the official swearing-in ceremony for the first government of Greece took place. The cathedral has many historical relics, a marble iconostasis, remarkable church murals and embedded icons . In 1830, a Swiss banker named Jean Gabriel Eynard financially contributed to the foundation of the eponymous educational institute which is a fine example of neoclassic building situated near the cathedral. Apart from the central area, there are two halls. The main school was housed in one of them and was intended for pupils who wanted to gain access to university study. The other one was used for three-month teacher-training courses.
