Photographer’s Note

After some horrid dull, dark and wet days, the weather has now turned much colder, drier and brighter. The temperature was just zero when I took this one during a walk around Lanark Loch this morning in the early morning sunlight. The light was fabulous.

Lanark Loch, lying on the eastern outskirts of Lanark, is a man-made lake, built in the early 19th. Century initially as an emergency water reservoir. It is now a popular centre for recreation and a walk around the perimeter is just about one mile. People regularly come here to walk their dogs, run, jog, feed the swans and generally enjoy the scenery.

This picture was taken from pretty near the same place in December last year, on the shortest day of the year when the temperature was about -8C.

Shot in RAW using a circular polarising filter and converted and edited in PSE6.
