Hagia Sophia - turkish: Ayasofya
| A basilica, mosque and a museum |
It was the largest cathedral ever built in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of the Seville Cathedral in 1520. The current building was originally constructed as a church between A.D. 532 and 537 on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site (the previous two had both been destroyed by riots).

Bonjour Paulina,
Voici une magnifique photo, l'angle de prise de vue est intéressant et fait bien ressortir le jeu des ombres et du contre-jour.

Hi neighbor. How are you? I like very much your picture. Although it is church and the favorite of me as I'm Greek (due to our history), it shows a strange darkness which I like.
Keep trying :)

Hi Paulina,
So, recently you were visiting Istanbul! I believe you enjoyed it very much.
There are lots of Hagia Sophia photos in TE, but most of them focusing on the great architecture of it. Here you made emphasis on the incredible light inside, and those silhouettes of the visitors and their reflections already give idea about its huge size. An original one from there for sure.

Buon Giorno Paulina,
Bella. Enriched by the floor and by the cameo of the chandelier (even if isn't complete...) and from the crowd of people.
Nice

Hi Paulina.
An intriguing photo, with an 'old world' feel about it. I like the strong contrast and the shadows. It's a very atmospheric photo. There are many people in the scene but still it looks like they are in a vast space. Very unusual shot of the mosque. Well done.

Andrew

Hi Paulina,
I saw this on the TE home page. It's a wonderful image. The lighting is very dramatic; it looks like a scene from a play. That person near the middle is hidden by the chandelier, but his shadow tells us that he's taking a picture.
Best regards,
Lamberto

Hello Paulina.
It is so perfect that it could have been staged by actors, or populated by toys.
You did well to capture it so well.
