Photographer’s Note

Sunnybrook Hospital grounds, some 100 acres of protected area of forests, ravines, clearings, beutifully maintained. Area is for convalescent patients to breath fresh air and excercise, also a free space for dogs to run around. Open all year around to the public as well.

Janos,
This is a very nice autumn colors shot! your composition is nice using the tree tops to create a line through the scene. The lighting is fine except for a little overexposure in the sky. This could be avoided with the use of a polarizing filter when shooting in this type of light. The photo has nice sharpness and detail.
A note about the area would have been helpful!

Hi Janos,

Very colorful autumn shot. Many years ago, I spent some time in Ottawa, so I'm always attracted by photos from Ontario at this time of the year. I have a couple of suggestions on the post processing of "light sky" shots, that might enhance the sky, if you haven't used a polarizing filter. In your current photo, these suggestions won't work, unfortunately, due to the whiteness at the horizon. However, if you have light blue to darker blue predominently, you could selectively increase the saturation of just the blue. Decreasing the brightness of just the blue can be effective as well. At that point, if the sky can take it, you could use the contrast just a little to make everything stand out better. These techniques don't always work, but sometimes they can help. Whatever you decide to do in post processing, it's best to not do it too much.
