Photographer’s Note

(Sorry that it is not perfectly in focus but I liked the spirit of this shot :)

... Here she is again, my "Venus from Cappadocia" : this time she was busy with the preparation of the wedding of a relative. The bride, from another village, would arrive only the next day and early in the afternoon, most of the family of the bridegroom were yet to come. The musicians though were already playing : very loud music was for the whole neighborhood to hear, typically rather sad and nostalgic songs.

Great pleasure to meet such free and happy people : she is not afraid to sing with a microphone - a strong voice with a good vibrato, - to dance with the local tramp who will get his free drinks and meals ; later, she sort of flirted with an elder gentleman (you’ll see this in a few days) before looking for her dear husband ; all the time, joking with unbridled energy ;

She was not only belly -, but also breasts- and bottom-dancing, her whole body vibrating and in a delirious trance !

who cares about focus when you have the signs of life shouting out loud like you're showing us here? (would love to hear the music too ;o) ... just to get a better understanding of the facts

J'ai pensé exactement ce que Teodora a écrit quand je l'ai vu: il n'a pas aucune importance qu'elle ne soit pas parfaitement au point. La netteté en la face de "ton Venus" est très bien, et aux autres zones est suffisante pour percevoir la joie candide de ce couple. De plus, on peut juger que la manque de netteté vient du mouvement.

This one I really like,what a great mood,wonderful caught.I liked also the previous one but to be frankly there was too easy to obtain a nice image with great impact having those walls,those kids.This is what I think.I really like this one Cath.

Certainly a great documentary on human expression and happiness limited in participating and giving rather than consuming and wasting. Hemingway had a Spanish word for that "afficionados" and those faces express just that. It's certainly a great composition in all other respects, but the former excels.

Hi Cath,

The longer I'm on TE, the more I prefer the looks of the old, to the young. They have such stories in their faces. These two look so unselfconscious and truly happy. You've captured such a wonderful moment. I really like the choice of color here, because it brings out the feeling of happiness now, not happiness of days gone by. Wonderful post.

A photography of contagious vitality... That Venus is the most adorable woman one could meet... so full of humor, laughter, love... You must have enjoyed enormously her company... Thanks for sharing with us these precious moments... I feel like going to Cappadocia just to kidnap her... ;-)))

Je reviens un peu en arrière pour apprécier cette photo, pleine de joie de vivre et de légèreté.
Il n'y a aucune information sur les réglages que tu avais choisis... peut-être une vitesse trop lente pour ce type de photo?
Quoiqu'il en soit, tu as saisi une très belle scène de vie. C'est déjà merveilleux.
